Awesome pair of sunglasses (Big Head)
I have never been a person who could easily find a pair of sunglasses that fits my huge head, in fact I don’t believe I ever have. If you are a person with the same problem these glasses are right up your alley they are a great looking pair and definitely worth the price!

I've never had sunglasses before
I've never had sunglasses before because I have such an odd sized head but as soon as I got these they fit instantly and are exactly what I have been looking for. I kept going on and on about how I was getting sunglasses to my friends and family because when I say I’ve never had sunglasses. I mean it. This is the biggest thing this year for me. Thank you Faded Days!

Excellent Fit!
These glasses are perfect for people that have difficulty finding larger glasses! I have always had trouble finding wide enough sunglasses, but more arduous was finding a pair of sunglasses that have long enough arms to get behind my ears. These are perfect for the person who cannot find a comfortable pair just walking up to a sunglasses display. I highly recommend!

If Your Nickname is; Head, Bonk or Stonehenge... Pick A Pair Up ASAP!
Simply put, the XXL in the description is exactly what these are. The sizing is on point, especially for my big a$$ melon. Surprisingly, these sunglasses are extremely light (I feared them being heavy due to the size).
When it boils down to it, these aren't costing you $200+, they have the correct styling, they are lightweight and polarized, and lastly, the build quality is top notch. Easily comparable to that other brand that makes only "hipster" sunglasses.

Now, just waiting on different colors and possibly another style (waiving money in hand).
Oh yeah... What about buying just the frames so I can get some prescribed vision lenses put in?

Super Happy!
I can’t tell you how happy I am that I purchased these sunglasses. I’ve tried countless other brands hoping to find something that would fit my giant head and face, and nothing comes close to the fit of these XXL Glasses. I can’t wait for the other colors to become available. I’ll definitely be purchasing more. Thanks again Faded Days!

They fit!

The Holy Grail ... finally I have found a pair of shades that fit my big melon! Great service and speedy delivery. Couldn't believe the fit once on and lack of usual ache in the head, which has been my usual experience. Excellent quality and workmanship. I will be back :)

Finally I can wear sunglasses and not get headaches!
The size and fit of these are perfect!! No temple compression or any kind of headaches!!
Unlike the other pair of "largeheadz" that i have which are only marketed to larger head people.

New favorites
Took a little getting used to, but take these out in the sun, and I mean real sun, like midday high noon and sheesh! You guys are on to something here, I have Ray Ban Aviators and I though they gave my eyes good coverage, these things are like eye umbrellas. I mean they cover my face so well and they sit comfortably like I would wear these things all day doing even mundane stuff (I went to Trader Joe’s twice just to have a reason to go outside). Really great job, I’m proud to be part of this campaign. Like seriously great job. These are my new favs.

I just received my pair from the Kickstarter and I couldn't possibly be any happier with them. I immediately bought another pair off your website. Thank you so much for this product, it's so insanely difficult to find sunglasses for us big headed folk and these are absolutely PERFECT. Thank you Faded days!!!

Finally, real sunglasses for huge heads!
I was fortunate enough get in on the Kickstarter campaign. For reference wear a size 8+ in fitted hats. These are just a bit large (155 mm wide would be perfect) on me but look good and stay in place. I even tried to make them fall off but failed every time! The lenses are clear and seem to be of good quality with no rear reflections. They are a bit on the heavy side and the frame is prone to smudges. The hinges feel solid.

My friends didn't realize how large these sunglasses are until they had them in hand! LOL
If you have a head that is way outside the size norm where 145 mm wide glasses make you look like John Lennon, take the leap and try these out!
P.S. My dealings with Faded Days through Ben have all been excellent! I applaud Faded Days for stepping up and providing sunglasses for us truly big headed people! Bravo

Our successfully funded XXL wide sunglasses Kickstarter project

Faded Days was a company born through my own necessity. I personally wanted a pair of high quality, great looking sunglasses that were affordable and durable. In November 2012 I launched from the back bedroom of my home. Since opening our team has grown, and we have been blown away with how popular our sunglasses have become. The positivity and feedback we get from our customers is truly amazing, and it’s often so “inline” with why I opened a sunglasses company to begin with. As we continue to move forward, our team and I want to invite you to join us, as we hope to bring to life a brand new innovative design. Our Super XL Sunglasses line.

Since our launch in 2012 I get multiple emails every month, asking if we can develop a pair of sunglasses for people with larger heads. A few years ago I started to do some research and was surprised to see how little choice there was, in wide frame sunglasses. In 2017 we set out to design a brand new product. We wanted to create the first great looking, high quality, affordable pair of sunglasses, made specifically for people with wide or large heads.

Designing our brand new Super XL Sunglasses presented a unique challenge, not only because they are so different from any of the sunglasses we currently provide, but also because there is nothing else quite like them in the entire sunglasses market. True story, our manufacturer actually sent back our first design as they thought we had made a mistake on the measurements, they said they were too big.

In the chart below you can see the two frame options we currently offer, CLASSIC and LARGE. And then in the final column you can see the frame option we hope to bring to you with our Kickstarter campaign, the SUPER XL line (you can find a detailed drawing with measurements further down this page) .

As you can see, the Super XL Frame is enormously different (pun intended) from our current styles or anything you will find in sunglasses design, anywhere.

Below you can see our finished design that is now ready for production, should our Kickstarter campaign be successful. We are extremely happy with how they turned out.

Below again, our two current available styles in comparison to the SUPER XL frames we hope to bring to you.

For people that have difficulty finding sunglasses that are wide enough, we know the image above is music to your eyes. No more headaches from tight fitting sunglasses squeezing your temples, with the Super XL frames.

Choose between of any of the four lens colors below, black, blue, green and yellow. The polarized lens option comes in black. All of our lenses offer full UV400 protection, are scratch resistant and are FDA approved impact resistant.

Wide sunglasses for bigger headsXXL wide sunglasses

The wide sunglasses solution

If you or someone you know has been searching for wide sunglasses without any joy, we've developed a solution.

I first started working on our XXL sunglasses line in 2017, because for years we had been receiving emails from frustrated folk asking us to design a pair of wide sunglasses, specifically for people with bigger heads. The team took those emails to heart and got to work. We wanted to create the first great looking, high quality, affordable pair of wide sunglasses, made specifically for people with large heads.

After a lot of work and many big sunglasses prototypes, we had the finished product.

XXL polarized sunglasses

After a successfully funded Kickstarter campaign which launched in January 2018 we were able to put our wide frame sunglasses into production. We Started delivering our first XXL sunglasses in May 2019 and the feedback was incredible. Eric wrote, "I just received my pair from the Kickstarter and I couldn't possibly be any happier with them. I immediately bought another pair off your website. Thank you so much for this product, it's so insanely difficult to find sunglasses for us big headed folk and these are absolutely PERFECT. Thank you Faded days!!!" Fortunately for us, we have received countless thank you notes for seeing our wide sunglasses project through to the end and delivering on it.

If you, like many others before you, have been having trouble finding sunglasses for large heads then check out our XXL Sunglasses line. We would love it if we could solve your fashion dilemma and get you in a pair of our wide frame sunglasses. We also XXL polarized sunglasses too!

If you don't need giant sunglasses, then check out our Large Frame Sunglasses line, they are bigger than regular sunglasses, but not as big as the XXL sunglasses.

If by Rudyard Kipling

If by Rudyard Kipling

My favorite poem, If by Rudyard Kipling, enjoy

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
    But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
    If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
    And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
    And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
    If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

Best Driving Sunglasses

What are the best sunglasses for driving?

 Driving sunglasses

If you own a decent pair of sunglasses, you can be confident that they will be protecting your eyes from the sun, providing UV protection and keeping dust and debris out of your eyes. Even if your sunglasses are checking all of these boxes, they still might not be your best option for driving sunglasses.

Driving places a new set of demands on your eyes, dazzling sunlight, glare and fog to name a few. Another factor is being able to see road signs clearly so you can easily distinguish colors, (very helpful for traffic lights)!

So what makes for a good pair of driving sunglasses? We’ve broken it down for you with a few recommendations-

Fixed vs Variable (Photochromic) Lenses

Variable lenses automatically change tint/darkness depending on how much UV light they are exposed to. These are not a suitable choice for driving glasses.

The windscreen on a car can block 40% of UV light, so this is going to interfere with the appropriate lens tint on your sunglasses. Photochromic lenses are reactive, but it takes time for them to adjust. If you go from bright sunlight, into a tunnel your lenses will still be dark until they adjust to your new surroundings. We don't need to go into why this is dangerous. Also colder temperatures slow down the adjustment time on Variable lenses. Stay with a fixed lens, that is a must.

Lens Color

Your lens color will affect how much visible light reaches your eyes and how well the user can see colors. Obviously this is important for seeing road signs, traffic lights etc. Pink, blue and green lenses do not make for the best driving sunglasses as they can make red lights difficult so distinguish.

The best colors for driving lenses are grey and brown. These lenses are color neutral so they will not affect how you will see colors.

Polarized Lenses

Are polarized sunglasses better? They certainly are. Polarized lenses are the best choice for driving as they dramatically reduce glare from reflected surfaces, other cars, wet roads etc. Glare puts a huge amount of strain on the eyes and can be dangerous and distracting. Polarized lenses can also be a good choice in foggy conditions because of their ability to sharpen details, just be careful with the level of tint. If you are wondering "why polarized sunglasses"? We have done a comprehensive write up of polarized sunglasses here.

Here are our two standout choices for our best driving sunglasses-

Black Polarized

Polarized Black Sunglasses

Tortoise Brown Lens Polarized

A great pair of sunglasses can only add to the thrill of driving on the open road, stay safe out there.

The coolest sunglasses for men and women in 2017

Sunglasses can be likened to shoes, belts and watches, you should own a selection of each. What is right for a hike, isn’t right for eating alfresco downtown. Some sunglasses are great all rounders, others are not, (your wraparound Oakley’s are not welcome at the board meeting bro).

Here’s our guide to the right sunglasses for the right occasion.

Wayfarer Black Sunglasses guide

If you are looking for a great multi-tasker look no further. This classic style is suitable for any setting, where sunglasses would be appropriate. Just make sure you have a few different colors to change things up.

Buy sunglasses online

8 Reasons why buying sunglasses online is a smart move

Online sunglasses
More people than ever are heading to online sunglasses stores for their next sunglasses purchase. Whenever I have purchased sunglasses in person, my desire has been for everybody in the store to disappear. I want it be me, the mirror, 50 pairs of sunglasses and all of the time in the world. The reality is very different. Someone is always stood in front of the mirror you want to use, the sales person is pushing the latest style on you and the shades are full of grubby, greasy finger prints.
Below are eight excellent reasons why you should buy your next pair of sunglasses online.
  1. Simple pricing - You've been there right? You are in the sunglasses store, you've finally found a pair that you like, only for that pair to be locked behind some glass with the price tag conveniently hidden from view? You try them on and love them only to discover they are $450. Not a problem with online sunglasses, the price is there for all to see.
  2. No pressure - How many times do you have to call the sales associate over to "unlock" a pair of sunglasses for you, before you start to feel awkward or pressured into a purchase. For me it's about four times and then I get uncomfortable. At your friendly online sunglasses store, take all of the time you need.
  3. Comparisons - Shopping online you can line up ten pairs of sunglasses and compare them against each other. Try doing that in a store!
  4. Reviews - Ask for a review in store? Sure the sales person will tell you "these are the finest sunglasses ever made". When you shop for sunglasses online most pairs will have a review from a paying customer right on the product page.
  5. Convenience - This one is huge, where else can you do your shopping from the comfort of your Spiderman pajamas, at 2am, while eating ice cream from the container, dancing to Rick Astley (he's no stranger to love)?
  6. Price - Cut out the middlemen, no sales associate to pay, no sales tax (if you are out of state). This all means big savings that can be passed on to you.
  7. Returns - most online retailers have a great, no questions asked returns policy. All taken care of without you having to head back to the store.
  8. Gifting - Want to make a purchase as a gift? Shop online and have it sent straight to the recipient! Easy as pie, (apple pie, with ice cream).
Shopping for your next pair of sunglasses should be done online if you ask me. The advantages are there for all to see. Ready to browse? Check out what we have to offer here. Why not treat yourself to some Rick while you are at it?!
    Stay Faded,
    Cell phone and sunglasses

Help! Why can’t I see my cellphone screen through my sunglasses?

    Polarized screen
It’s a beautiful day on the farm, the sun is shining. You take out your smartphone to take a photograph of the amazing vista, but you can’t see your phone screen. What’s the deal?
Well before you start cursing out Samsung and throw your phone in the lake, take a second. It’s less to do with your phone and more to do with your polarized sunglasses.
Polarized lenses are popular for many reasons, as we have written here. But as a means for looking at your cellphone (or any LCD screen) there are some issues. LCD screens have their own polarizing screen filter, so when you add another filter, (your sunglasses) things get tricky.
Here is an awful example of what’s going on-
Hold your hand out in front of your face with your fingers spread wide apart (filter one). Then do the same with your other hand (filter two), and place one hand behind the other. With your fingers perfectly in line you can see what’s behind them. Yet with your fingers misaligned they block your vision. This is a simple example of what’s going on with your smart phone screen filter and your sunglasses filter.
There is a simple fix for this though. Rotate your phone through 90 degrees, (from portrait to landscape or vice versa). Then your screen will pop back to life.
This is also a good test if you have ever wondered, “how do I know if my sunglasses are polarized?” Hold your sunglasses in front of an LCD screen and rotate them. If the screen starts to dim through your sunglasses lens then congratulations. You have yourself a bonafide pair of polarized sunglasses.
I hope this post has been helpful in solving your first world problems. Feel free to let us know your thoughts below.
    Stay Faded,
    Replacement sunglasses

How do you remove scratches from sunglasses?

    Scratched lenses on the beach
Accidents happen, people drop things. Heck some people seem to be experts at it, especially when it comes to dropping other people’s property.
Now if you are here because you have a scratch on your sunglasses lens, I have some good news and some bad news. The bad news first-
You don’t have anything under your kitchen sink or in your garage to repair that scratch. I’m not trying to be a Debbie Downer here, I'm a reporter of facts.
A scratch on the lens means there is an abrasion on the lens. The only way to repair that abrasion - fill it with a material that is the same color, clarity and density as the lens. Difficult, perhaps impossible.
Try buffing it out? To do this you would have to remove the surface of the lens to the depth of the scratch, all whilst maintaining a perfect buff and… You know what? I’m not even going to finish this sentence. Don’t try and buff out your lenses with sandpaper.
Let me present you with a list of things that DON'T work,
Sandpaper - Scratch city, don’t do it man. Put down the wrecking ball.
Toothpaste – The idea is the tiny abrasives in the paste will wear down the lens to the depth of the scratch. If this were true we’d have no teeth left.
Sunscreen – A temporary fix at best, the lotion fills the crack but will disperse over time.
Furniture wax – If you still want to see through your lenses, don’t try this one.
I did promise you some good news,
If you have expensive sunglasses, see if the manufacturer offers replacement lenses. You could get lucky.
We offer a fine range of affordable polarized and non-polarized UV protection sunglasses. Check them out here. The past is the past, let’s move forward.

    Polarized Lenses

    Mirrored Polarized Sunglasses
Polarized sunglasses are often the choice of boaters, fisherman and drivers who need to reduce reflected glare from the surfaces surrounding them.
But now as the benefits of polarized sunglasses have become mainstream, enthusiasm for polarized lenses has skyrocketed.
So why do outdoors men, skiers, hikers, bikers, fishermen and boaters love polarized sunglasses so much? It's all to do with glare. But you don't have to be a specialist/hobbyist to benefit from polarized lenses, polarized sunglasses also make for the best driving sunglasses.
    What do Polarized lenses do?
The suns rays distribute light in all directions, when that light hits a flat surface, say some water, a road or the car in front of you, if reflects off that surface in a horizontally polarized fashion. So instead of that reflected light being scattered, it seems to be heading right for your eyes! This results in you being dazzled - the strength of that light can be uncomfortable and often dangerous.
Polarized lenses are coated with a special film or filter that impedes harsh reflected light and in turn, reduces glare. Basically polarized sunglasses are a sieve for reflected light.
In a side by side comparison the benefits of a polarized lens are easy to see. On a sunny day a polarized lens will offer greater clarity and an increase in fine detail.
All of our Polarized Sunglasses are UV Protection Polarized Sunglasses and are made with a TR90 lightweight, flexible frame, (we made them flexible for active people to avoid breakage). We also offer mirrored polarized sunglasses. If you have never experienced the benefits of a polarized lens, I'd say you should check them out.

New Release | Neptune Sunset Extra Large

    Extra Large Sunglasses

We would like to introduce you to our latest release in our XL Sunglasses line, the Neptune Sunset.

Our Neptune Sunset shades were inspired by the beautiful Florida Sunsets we get to witness on an almost daily occasion. We wanted to create a pair of sunglasses that illustrated that breathtaking moment of when the sun meets the ocean. Between the two tone frames and the mirrored lenses we think we have been successful.

Our Extra Large frames are perfect if you have a big head, or if you are just looking for a little more coverage.

We hope you like them as much as we do.

    UV Eye protection

Sunglasses, eye health and UV400 protection | Why are sunglasses important?

    Dog wearing sunglasses

Did you know your sunglasses could be doing a lot more for you than reducing glare and making you look good? Here's a little info on the importance of UV400 protection lenses.

This is not my usual writing style, but sometimes you've just got to deliver the info.

    What's the issue?

The primary danger the sun poses to our eyes comes in the form of Ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Most people are very aware of the harm UV rays can do to our skin, but not so aware of the damage it can cause our eyes.

Exposing the eye to UV rays can have adverse long-term and short-term effects on the eye and its vision.

    What can happen?

If your eyes are exposed to excessive amounts of UV radiation over a short period of time, you are likely to experience an effect called photokeratitis.

    What's Photokeratitis?

Photokeratitis is likened to skin sunburn, but affects the cornea and conjunctiva. Symptoms would usually be noticed several hours after exposure and could include tears, pain (like having sand in your eyes), extreme sensitivity to light and red eyes. Fortunately this condition is usually temporary, but can be protected against through the use of UV400 eye protection.

    Why should I be bothered?

The effects of long-term exposure to UV rays can be much more serious for the eyes. Studies have shown that exposure to small amounts of UV rays over a period of years can contribute to cataract formation, pinguecula (degeneration in the eye) and macular degeneration.

UV rays are also harmful to the sensitive skin around the eye area and we all know about the importance of of skin protection in the sunshine. It involves much more than just eye wrinkles.

With the above in mind, all of our sunglasses offer full UV400 protection, (they block all rays up to 400 nanometers). All UV rays (UV-A, UV-B and UV-C), have wavelengths below 400 nanometers. Therefore our UV400 lenses block 100% of UV rays.

So when you are choosing a new pair of sunglasses we would love them to be Faded Days, but if not please do make sure they are UV protection glasses or UV protection polarized sunglasses.

What is the most important thing to you when choosing a pair of sunglasses? Let us know in the comments section.

When we were young we were promised so much about the future, flying cars, robot servants and cities in the sky, all of which are yet to come to fruition. At least one prediction came true though, Nike's self-lacing sneaker. GREAT SCOTT!!

The HyperAdapt 1.0 will be available from December 1st in two New York locations, with the sneaker rolling out to other stores later in the month, as well as on the Nike+ app.

This tech comes at a price though, quite a hefty one, a futuristic $720. That's a lot a cash to not have to tie those bunny ears, but it's also a chance to own a piece of futuristic history.

I know a few sneakerheads who will have no problem dropping $720 to snag these, and they know just where to come for sunglasses to complete the outfit.

CNN Buys Casey Neistat’s Video App Beme

    Casey Neistat

It looks Like CNN just picked up YouTube star, Casey Neistat and his video sharing app Beme for around $25 million. Casey interests us as he is instantly recognizable by his unique, custom sunglasses.

Beme describes itself as an “unfiltered way to share your personal experience,” it captures video when you cover your phones proximity sensors, the idea being you hold your phone to your chest and it records, rather than you holding your phone in front of you. The video you just shot is then immediately uploaded without you seeing or editing it.

The social app got off to a decent start in 2015 with claims of over a half million downloads in it's first week, but then it seemed to falter. The app appeared to have failed only for it to relaunch in May 2016, but hasn't got near the success of Snapchat, and now has Instagram as a competitor also.

My guess is CNN is more interested in access to Neistat and his audience rather than the social platform.

Casey recently announced he would be ending his daily YouTube blog to focus on other projects, so this all kind of makes sense now.

Mr Neistat has built quite the brand up to press, I wonder if he will be able to keep it going in his new partnership...?

    Up in North Carolina

    Hey pal,

I was up in North Carolina this weekend. I went to visit my friends Ryan and Julie. There are a ton of reasons I love going up there, but non more than the fact that Julie runs the lifestyle blog Peanut Butter Fingers. She features a lot of recipes on the blog so she is always looking for a willing food taster, and well, I'm a food pervert! She just threw together a full Thanksgiving dinner while I was there! MAGNIFICENT ;)

As always I had my camera with me as I continue to fudge my way through trying to learn how to take some decent shots.

    Lake Norman, North Carolina

This one is at Lake Norman. The water level is pretty low so there is a temporary "beach" right now.

    Clear wayfarer mirrored sunglasses

I came across this fallen tree. I thought it would make for a decent shot. These are our Clear Ice Mirrored sunglasses.

I'm still pretty tight from the eight hour drive, but I was happy singing my arse off all of the way ;)

    Stay Faded,

Extra Large sunglasses in New York city

    A little trip to NYC

I took a short trip to NYC recently.

I have a good friend that lives in Battery Park, so I stayed at his place.

I was working on a new project that will come to fruition in the New Year, but as always I took a few promo snaps of my sunglasses while I was there. The Black Polarized is one of my photos and the Black and Red XL sunglasses is a pic from a talented photographer @jakobdahlin. You can see who has the skills!

I love New York. I love the buzz of the city and I always come back energized and inspired.
